Job Title: Marketing & Events Intern
Location: Guelph, ON (flexible for events across Ontario)
Type: Part-time Internship (Evenings & Weekends Required)

The Scented Market is a proudly Canadian brand specializing in hand-poured soy candles and home fragrance products. We create products that help people slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment. With multiple retail locations, a thriving online store, and an active events schedule, we’re looking for a driven intern to support our marketing and events efforts.
Role Overview:
You will assist our team in planning, organizing, and attending trade shows, markets, pop-up events, and community experiences. This role blends hands-on event coordination with customer engagement and retail work. You’ll also have the opportunity to pick up shifts at our Guelph Retail Store—perfect for someone who loves interacting with customers and learning the ins and outs of retail operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and prepare for events including product displays, booth setup, marketing materials, and inventory.
- Attend events to represent The Scented Market, sell products, answer questions, and share our brand story.
- Manage on-site payments and support order management during events.
- Promote upcoming events and product launches via social media and email marketing (content creation is a plus).
- Maintain product stock levels during shows and assist with inventory tasks.
- Assist in creating event recap reports and analysis for future planning.
- Pick up occasional shifts at our Guelph retail location to support store operations, including merchandising, customer service, and cash handling.
Must-Haves:
- Reliable transportation and driver’s licence (travel to events is required).
- Availability on evenings and weekends for event coverage.
- Comfortable setting up and tearing down event booths (ability to lift boxes up to ~30 lbs).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Event planning or marketing experience (even through school projects).
- Experience with social media content creation and scheduling.
- Retail or customer service experience.
- Passion for candles, home décor, and local shopping.

Part Time Retail Staff - Guelph, Ontario Location
Retail Staff will be responsible for:
- Greeting customers and responding to all customers’ questions.
- Process payments by totalling purchases: processing cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment.
- Responsible for cash handling during their shift
- Alerting management of potential security issues, etc.
- Assists with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise.
- Opening + closing store duties.
- Store cleanliness
- Providing an outstanding customer experience
- Must be available on evenings and weekends
MUST be available to work 2 days in a row ( weekdays and/or weekends )
Part-time hours: Approx. 6-8 hours per week
