Shower Gel vs. Body Wash: What’s the Difference?

Shower Gel vs. Body Wash: What’s the Difference?

We recently launched a new product, our Scented Shower Gels! They are available in our popular Signature Scents Just Breathe, Cashmere, and Eucalyptus Lavender.

Our Shower Gels are free from harsh and potentially toxic ingredients, including sodium laureth sulfates (SLES), sodium lauryl sulfates (SLS), and phthalates.

With an ultra-rich consistency and superior foaming, they offer a truly rejuvenating and skin-nurturing shower experience!

During our launch we’ve had people ask us lots of questions, such as “What’s the difference between Shower Gel and Body Wash?”

We thought this was a great question, so we are going to take a moment to explain the differences to anyone who might not know!

Shower Gel and Body Wash are quite similar, which might be why some people consider them to be the same thing. However, there is just enough difference between the two to justify their different names.

Check out the chart below for a quick breakdown.

As you can see, Shower Gel is named for its gel-like consistency. It has a lighter feel on the skin, might offer some moisturization (this differs from brand to brand), is great at cleansing your skin, and usually has a stronger fragrance than Body Wash.

Body Wash, on the other hand, usually contains moisturizers for a creamier consistency that feels heavier and more nourishing on the skin. In general it is also not as cleansing as a Shower Gel, or as strongly fragranced.

With these differences in mind, some people might choose to use one over the other, depending on their needs.

If someone has very dry skin and needs some extra TLC and moisture, they might reach for a Body Wash that contains lots of moisturizing ingredients.

If someone has normal skin and is looking for something more light and cleansing, they might choose to lather up with a Shower Gel.

Our Shower Gel offers a cleansing feel along with some added moisture thanks to Pro-Vitamin B5. It is suitable for all skin types, although we always recommend anyone that experiences skin irritation to discontinue use.

If you haven’t tried them yet, they are available for purchase in-store or online. Let us know what you think by tagging us on socials @thescentedmarket! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
