    Job Title: Marketing & Events Intern
    Location: Guelph, ON (flexible for events across Ontario)
    Type: Part-time Internship (Evenings & Weekends Required)

    About Us:
    The Scented Market is a proudly Canadian brand specializing in hand-poured soy candles and home fragrance products. We create products that help people slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment. With multiple retail locations, a thriving online store, and an active events schedule, we’re looking for a driven intern to support our marketing and events efforts.

    Role Overview:
    You will assist our team in planning, organizing, and attending trade shows, markets, pop-up events, and community experiences. This role blends hands-on event coordination with customer engagement and retail work. You’ll also have the opportunity to pick up shifts at our Guelph Retail Store—perfect for someone who loves interacting with customers and learning the ins and outs of retail operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and prepare for events including product displays, booth setup, marketing materials, and inventory.
    • Attend events to represent The Scented Market, sell products, answer questions, and share our brand story.
    • Manage on-site payments and support order management during events.
    • Promote upcoming events and product launches via social media and email marketing (content creation is a plus).
    • Maintain product stock levels during shows and assist with inventory tasks.
    • Assist in creating event recap reports and analysis for future planning.
    • Pick up occasional shifts at our Guelph retail location to support store operations, including merchandising, customer service, and cash handling.

    Must-Haves:

    • Reliable transportation and driver’s licence (travel to events is required).
    • Availability on evenings and weekends for event coverage.
    • Comfortable setting up and tearing down event booths (ability to lift boxes up to ~30 lbs).
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Friendly, outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently under pressure.

    Nice-to-Have Skills:

    • Event planning or marketing experience (even through school projects).
    • Experience with social media content creation and scheduling.
    • Retail or customer service experience.
    • Passion for candles, home décor, and local shopping.

    Job Title: Social Media Manager

    Overview

    The Social Media Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our social media strategy across all platforms. This role requires expert-level knowledge in creating, filming, and editing engaging video content as well as a deep understanding of each platform’s unique algorithms, trends, and best practices.

    Marketing knowledge is considered a strong asset, but this position’s primary focus is on content production (especially video) and platform management.

    Key Responsibilities

    Video Production & Editing (Core Focus)

    • Plan, film, and edit high-quality, engaging video content tailored to each platform (Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, etc.)
    • Capture behind-the-scenes content, product features, how-to/tutorial videos, and storytelling-style pieces
    • Stay ahead of trends in video editing techniques, audio tracks, and platform features
    • Maintain a consistent brand aesthetic across all video content

    Platform Management

    • Develop and execute a content calendar for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
    • Post content consistently and at optimal times to maximize reach and engagement
    • Monitor analytics and adjust strategies based on platform performance data
    • Engage with followers, respond to comments/messages, and build community relationships

    Content Strategy & Creation

    • Collaborate with the marketing and product teams to align content with campaigns, launches, and promotions
    • Write compelling captions, titles, and descriptions optimized for SEO and platform algorithms
    • Coordinate photoshoots and work with photographers/videographers as needed
    • Manage user-generated content and influencer collaborations

    Marketing & Campaign Support (Asset)

    • Support digital marketing campaigns, including paid ads, when necessary
    • Assist with email marketing, landing page design, and blog content as needed
    • Ensure social content supports larger brand marketing goals

    Skills & Qualifications

    • Expert video production skills: filming, editing, and producing professional-quality short-form and long-form video content
    • Proficiency with editing software: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, Canva, or similar tools
    • Deep platform knowledge: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
    • Understand algorithms, trends, analytics, and audience engagement strategies for each platform
    • Strong copywriting skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret analytics and adjust strategy
    • Creative thinker with a strong sense of brand storytelling and aesthetics
    • Photography and graphic design experience is a plus
    • Marketing knowledge and experience with paid advertising (Facebook Ads, Google Ads) is an asset

    Education & Experience

    • 2–4 years of social media management experience, preferably for a consumer brand or retail/e-commerce company
    • Demonstrated success in growing and engaging social media audiences
    • Strong portfolio of video content created for social media

    Part Time Retail Staff - Fergus, Ontario LocationRetail Staff will be responsible for:

    • Greeting customers and responding to all customers’ questions.
    • Process payments by totalling purchases: processing cash, credit, debit, and other forms of payment.
    • Responsible for cash handling during their shift
    • Alerting management of potential security issues, etc.
    • Assists with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise.
    • Opening + closing store duties.

    • Must be available on evenings and weekends

    MUST be available to work 2 days in a row ( weekdays and/or weekends )

    Position Overview
    We are looking for a detail oriented and reliable Candle Pourer to join our production team. This role is essential to ensuring that our candles are poured, finished, and packaged with the highest level of quality. If you enjoy hands on work, take pride in craftsmanship, and thrive in a fast paced environment, this could be the perfect fit for you.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Pour soy wax candles accurately and consistently according to recipes and production standards

    • Prepare jars, wicks, and fragrance oils for production runs

    • Monitor cooling, curing, and quality of candles throughout the process

    • Label, package, and prepare finished products for inventory and shipping

    • Maintain a clean and organized workstation and follow all safety procedures

    • Assist with general production tasks and support team members as needed

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, or hands on assembly is an asset but not required (training provided)

    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high quality work

    • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and lift up to 45 lbs

    • Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

    • Reliable and punctual
