You may have heard the term ‘mindfulness’ floating around a lot these days, but what does it mean to be mindful and what are the benefits?
To be mindful is to be present and feel acceptance towards ourselves and our surroundings. We live in a fast-paced world filled with people, technology, products, messages, etc., and it can be very easy to feel overwhelmed and even troubled by it all. Therefore, mindfulness is beneficial because it offers a strategy to live more peacefully amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here are a few ways our team practices mindfulness.
Meditation and Aromatherapy
Taking just a few minutes out of your day to meditate (or breathe deeply and focus on your breath) can do wonders for stress reduction and, if done routinely throughout the day, will allow you to be more mindful.
Aromatherapy is used to aid in creating an environment that encourages meditation and relaxation. The next time it's time to unwind, try lighting one of our calming Essential Oil Candles and experience the connection between scent and mindfulness for yourself.
Spend Time Outdoors
Spending time being mindful outside can help you feel more grounded and connected to the natural world. Feel the fresh air entering your nose and lungs, take note of any plants and animals and listen to the sounds around you. Once back inside your home, finish up your mindfulness practice with a bath. We recommend adding our Just Breathe Bath Salt. With a blend of eucalyptus and peppermint-scented oils, the salt will open your airways and leave your body and mind feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
Get Creative
Dedicate time to engage in a creative hobby you enjoy. Whether it's painting, photography, or even colouring, spending time doing something that you enjoy creates a moment of mindfulness as you relax and focus your energy on the task at hand. At the same time, use a Diffuser with an oil fragrance to create a relaxing aroma. At the end of your session, be sure to take time to admire what you’ve created and to feel proud of yourself!
If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or your surroundings, we hope that these mindfulness tips can help you feel better. Never be afraid or feel guilty to take quiet time to yourself!
